Virus Buster

About

A short shoot'em up about defending your computer from a dangerous virus.

Narrative

Cipher, a young hacker in a not too distant future, has her computer infected by a virus hidden in a recently downloaded file. By accessing a chat application, it sends this file to everyone on her friends list - including her college coleague, Sharp, which after managing to save his computer from total loss, questions his friend about the file supposedly sent by her. Explaining that she didn't send anything, they both conclude that Cipher downloaded a malicious file. When accessing it, the mysterious creator of the virus, Pirate, personally contacts her to explain that, to regain control of her computer, she must win a game. If she fails, all her files will be permanently encrypted, and only released after an expensive payment. Now, Cipher must (or not) face Pirate to recover her computer.

The story behind it

I'm studying Digital Games and this is my first game. This assignment was something simple, but it was a nightmare disguised as a dream: a shoot'em up. I affectionately call this game "Project VB", and it was a team effort, so my thanks and credits for most of the 3D models go to Ruan. The project grew a little, and now the game emulates a desktop, nothing too complex. All my related skills are like those of a baby for now. In any case, I am incredibly proud and although there is plenty to improve, I know I gave it my best in this project for the last 4 months.

In other words, Virus Buster is a student project developped by Ana Clara and Ruan Pablo during the first semester of the Digital Games graduation at PUC Minas.
